Canoe Slalom
Blades finished off the 2012 Canoe Slalom season with our paddlers achieving many successes despite a difficult year with several competition cancellations. First due to drought and then floods. Some of our more experienced paddlers had the opportunity to train on the Lee Valley Olympic course prior to the Olympics.
6 out of 8 new paddlers were promoted from division 4 to 3 during the year.
No doubt inspired by the Olympics, the end of season saw Edison Morgan-Johnson being promoted to division 1. Both Alfie (K1) and Jacob (C1) narrowly missed promotion from division 2 to 1 in the last race of the season. With the team well into winter training and seeing lots of improvement and development in skills, 2013 is looking to be another exciting year for Blades!
The unofficial end of season rankings. (The rankings change at the beginning of the new season due to paddlers dropping down from the higher divisions. They are then ranked at the top of the next division).
