Boat & Equipment Loan Scheme

How it Works

If you want to go kayaking regularly, it makes great sense to have a kayak at home to use whenever you get the opportunity.

Our “Suzy boat loan scheme” enables club members (priority is given to juniors) to borrow kayaks that are suitable for placid water, slalom, freestyle and white water river running.

The scheme is ideal for you if:

    • you are still growing
    • you are not sure what sort of kayak to buy
    • you cannot afford the cost of a new boat

The loan scheme allows you to borrow a kayak for a year, to look after and use as though it was your own – in return you promise to treat it carefully and pay a small sum for wear and tear.

You can also borrow a helmet, paddle, buoyancy aid, cagoule and spraydeck.

You’ll need to have somewhere lockable to store the boat and kit, a car to transport it, plus roof bars and straps.

Details are on the document “One Year Contract” – contact the Boat Loan Scheme organiser to check that a suitable kayak is available.

Please read the attached Kayaking in Safety document.
